Setting Up Your Blog Perfectly And Search Engine Friendly
welcome back ! as mentioned earlier that I shall guide you for developing a new website or blog from scratch, for which you may find hundreds thousands posts on the web, but, my promise to you is something very tricky i.e. if you shall follow all episodes properly your blog will be ranked surely on first page of search engine like Google within few weeks. First we are learning how to develop our blog site and then we shall start talking about the tweaks we need to do for search engine optimization SEO (I promise I will explain in a post later).
In previous post we learned about the WordPress Dashboard and I am sure now you are familiar with all parts of it. Today I will tell you about some important plugins that you must install in your blogs (I always include these in all my websites hosted by WordPress). Just go to Plugins on the side menu of WordPress dashboard and click “Add New” in search box type the name of plugin you want to install.
The plugins that I recommend are mentioned below:
1. All in One SEO Pack By Michael Torbert
This plugin can do a lot for you and help in search engine optimization, you need to enable it after installation and activation.
Home Title: Give the title of your blog or website that should be relevant to the content, put the domain name inside the title for best results. Ideally title should be less than 60 characters.
Home Description: Give brief description of your website that will be visible under your title in any search engine. Description is the key to attract the visitors so that people are forced to click on your site link. It should be ideally 20~25 words having 3 or 4 times repetition of your home keywords
Home Keywords: Give specific keywords relevant to your content, you can use different versions of your primary keyword, remember to not put everything here.
Other settings are also available where you can select the formats for titles of pages, posts and categories etc.
You will need to do more while creating posts and pages for maximum utilization of this plugin that I shall share while talking about writing effective posts and pages in separate post.
3. Quick Adsense by Philip Ze
Although this plugin does not add any value for search engine optimization, you can use it for inserting the Adsense or any ads inside your posts, pages, categories or archives etc. Not only ads but any stuff if you want to display inside the text this plugin is very useful.
4. Google XML Sitemap by Arne Brachhold
Most important plugin that helps generate the site map and automatically submit to major search engines like Google and yahoo. I suggest to install this plugin once you have created almost 10 pages and posts. Once you activate the plugin and click the button generate site map your sitemap will be generated and submitted to search engines for indexing. This plugin updates your sitemap each time new post or page is generated also submits your blog on frequent basis..
5. Google Analyticator by Rnald Heft
Used to monitor the traffic to your blog or site and analyse the data for finding out how people are visiting your site and how they are navigating among pages. A lot of more you can see once you install this plugin. You need to create your account in Google Analytics first and then activate this plugin.
If you have more tips for search engine optimization I shall be happy to hear from you in our comments below.
